1 bottle of 700ml whisky

A few years ago on the Isle of Mull we came across a cask of whisky that tasted so distinctly ‘Hawksmoor’ we asked the distiller to bottle it all just for us. ABOUT CLERK OF THE WORKS

Our namesake Nicholas Hawksmoor is sometimes called the Devil’s architect, after his penchant for sneaking pagan symbols into his London churches. Some even see their locations as points on a giant satanic pentagram designed to turn the capital into a portal to raise the prince of darkness.

Back in the real world his job title was the Clerk of the Works, which we borrowed to name this single malt. A few years ago on the Isle of Mull we came across a cask of whisky that tasted so distinctly ‘Hawksmoor’ we asked the distiller to bottle it all just for us.

Like a great steak it has a lingering smokey sweetness, along with a hint of salinity from island sea air. A very special and very limited-edition whisky that’s been aged for 11 years in a bourbon barrel at Ledaig and bottled at cask strength (48.9%).
